Nearly finished

Thursday 19. 04. 12 Have been working on these two most of this week and I think they are close to being finished.

Portrait

Tuesday 03. 04. 12 Alan and Lea left today for London via Paris. They will be staying in London until Thursday when they fly back to Canada.

Decor

Tuesday 13. 03. 12 I have been busy for the last little while with Alan and Lea who are over here on an artist in residency at St Mathieu. We have been out and about around St Mathieu and last friday went to an expo of artist’s books in Nîmes. Last night I was again at the Maison d’Emma at their welcoming reception. Besides all this I redecorated my bedroom which includes a blackboard wall on which I can draw. I am hoping to do different drawings throughout the year. Above is the first attempt.

No wind

Friday 17. 02. 12 Finally the wind has died down and the temperatures have risen. This morning I took my coffee outside on the terrace of Les Negociants. I liked the shadows playing on the façade and the trees.

Cayo Coco

Monday 15. 01. 12 Julia and I have just got back from a week at Cayo Coco in Cuba. We had a great time swimming, reading, lots of very circuitous conversations and eating and drinking. Besides all this I managed to do a few watercolours and we went on a couple of trips, snorkelling and a visit to the town of Trinidad which was where the original sugar plantation owners lived. Their mansions have now all been turned into museums.

Poppy

Thursday 08. 12. 11 Above is Poppy’s portrait of Chagall from the exhibition that she saw at the AGO in Toronto and my portrait of Poppy which is for her Dad for Christmas. Also sold another couple of fish today which means # 2, 5, 6 and 12 are sold.

Christmas Presents

Sunday 04. 12. 11 It has been a busy week completing various projects  before Christmas and also finishing Christmas presents. This year I have been painting mirrors from Ikea. They are perfect as the ‘frame’ around the mirror is so large.

Busy day

Monday 28. 11. 11 Whilst I was in London I visited Peter Spens and amongst many things we discussed monoprints. He always uses oil based ink whilst I have used water based. Today I have been experimenting with oil based and this is one of the monoprints. I haven’t got any black ink so have been using sepia. I’ll pick up some black when I’m in Toronto over Christmas but I think I will end up using both depending on the subject.
