More white vans

Sunday 06. 03. 11 This week have started on a new white van painting as above and have returned to my monoprint series of London stations. Met Kevin and Emma for lunch and discussed his podcasts and also his new art magazine due out in May. We also talked about the possibility a show of my paintings in Nîmes this summer. Weather is starting to improve now and besides the mimosas I have now seen the new crop of wild irises.

Warming up

Thursday 24. 02. 11 Have been doing some small paintings to get back into things again. Above is an oil sketch of snow on Austin Avenue to remind me of why I live here. Have figured out the next white van painting and also want to try some kind of combination monoprint/chine collée for the Cross Canada series. On y va!

Portrait day

Monday 06. 12. 10 Last week was busy working on landscapes and now today it has been portraits. I am still working on Daisy’s portrait but it is coming along and today I did a quick self-portrait while I was waiting for paint to dry. Hard to believe that we are related! Leave for Toronto at the end of this week where am hoping to begin a large painting using all the images from the Cross Canada drawing series.

Vers Arboras

Monday 29. 11. 10 It has been a week of celebrations, US Thanksgiving at Laurene and George’s on Thursday and Jonathan’s 65th birthday on Saturday. In between I have managed to get some painting done. I have finished another white van painting this time at Canet (see White van gallery) and am working on another landscape of the valley viewed from the Cave co-op in St Saturnin looking towards Arboras. Much to do before I leave for Toronto on the 10th.

Portrait

Monday 22. 11. 10 Worked on the portrait today and it seems to be coming along quite well. This last week have been working on a large landscape of the Hermitage Saint-Antoine de Galamus which I started early in the summer but got stuck on and also another white van painting looking from the Cave Co-operative at St Saturnin where I buy my wine.

Portrait

Thursday 04. 11. 10 Back to the portrait again today. It is coming along well. I want to get most of the background done before I go to London so that it has a chance to dry whilst I am away.

Between projects

Tuesday 02. 11. 10 Every so often one needs to take a break between projects and just paint for the fun of it. This is a little painting I did on Sunday from my kitchen table looking up into the living room.

Vancouver

Sunday 24. 10. 10 Finally finished all the drawings for this series. I’m now going to leave them for a while and then come back to them later in the week with fresh eyes.

Alberta

Thursday 21. 10. 10 It has been a busy week so far. I have started painting the portrait of Daisy and have been continuing with the train drawings. Have now completed 15 of the proposed 20 drawings for this series.
