Thursday 09. 10. 14 Got back last night from a brief sojourn at Alan and Lea’s cottage on Skeleton Lake. Great company, good food and magnificent views.

Saturday 04. 10. 14 Went with Laurie and Erich for a misty tour of the harbour on Thursday and then on to an interesting exhibit at the Power Plant. On Friday Chris took me to Hamilton art gallery for an expo on William Blair Bruce, a Canadian painter unknown to me. Wonderful exhibition showing a wide range of subjects – portraits, landscapes, still lifes, seascapes etc and from small 8 x 10 plein air sketches to huge canvasses with larger than life figures. Great stuff!

Friday 26. 09. 14 I have started work on a journal of my operation. Above is the cover, the endpapers and the first spread.
New idea
Wednesday 24. 09. 14 I went with Jason to an interesting expo last Saturday at the Distillery. It was a travelling library of sketchbooks collected by the Brooklyn Museum. You can buy a sketchbook from them for $25, fill it and then send it back to be added to the collection. Readers can either access the books at the library itself or from one of their travelling libraries. Alternatively you can pay $60 and the library will digitalize your book so that is available electronically. Anyhow as a result of looking at a number of these sketchbooks I have decided to do a visual journal of my recent operation – watch this space.
No studio
Friday 12. 09. 14 One of the problems with travelling is that one does not have a studio to work in. I have been experimenting with coloured pencils on tinted Strathmore paper.

Friday 29. 08. 14 I haven’t been in the studio for a while as I have been travelling around with the family. I did this one of the view from Agathe’s room which is where I stayed when we visited Marie-Pierre. Tomorrow off to Toronto!
