Monday 16. 03. 15 I coloured the big drawing using oil pastels instead of oil paints as originally planned.

 

Thursday 12. 03. 15 Did a small drawing on mylar of a demolition at College and Yonge and then enlarged and output it on engineering paper. I have coated it with linseed oil and will paint it in the next couple of days. I think this way of working may suit urban scenes better than vases of flowers.

 

Tuesday 10. 03. 15 This is a painting on the the engineering print  – it is 24″ x 26″ blown up 300% from the original drawing on mylar. I applied the paint quite thinly so some of the original drawing showed through.

 

Wednesday 04. 03. 2015 Painted these tulips this morning hopefully to mark the soon to be departed winter and the  arrival of Spring!

 

Saturday 28. 02. 15 Managed to do a couple of small 8 x 10 oils today. These are the first paintings since my intervention of last Tuesday. One is the view of the city from Cherry beach from a photo Jason shot this morning and the other shows the demolition of an apartment building in Regent’s Park.

Tuesday 17. 02. 15 I tried this originally in oils but it didn’t work so I wiped it and did it in coloured pencil.

Thursday 12. 02. 15 Did this drawing of the Don Valley Parkways as seen from the subway on the Bloor viaduct. Again on mylar and I’m hoping to paint in oil on the reverse side.

 

Wednesday 11. 02. 15 This is part of my exploration of mylar as a ground for drawing and painting. I did this drawing of the pool at the YMCA here in Toronto using coloured pencils. My next is going to be oil on mylar of the Don Valley Parkway. I also want to experiment with the transparent qualities of mylar maybe drawing on one side and painting on the other.

Monday 09. 02. 15 This is a painting using oil pastels on mylar. It is the view from the house looking south across Dundas Street. I drew it using oil pastels and then painted it by adding linseed oil. It takes forever to dry!!!

Wednesday 21. 01. 15 When in doubt as to what to draw, do a self portrait! I did this drawing this morning using oil pastels on mylar. On the topic of self portraits, there is an exhibition at the Turner Gallery in Margate this Spring. I am hoping to see it when I get back home.
