Sunday 01. 05. 16 May Day, Fête du Travail or Fête du Muguet. Charles IX began this tradition by giving the ladies of his court Lily-of the valleys on 1 May. The tradition continues with Frenchmen presenting the flowers to their sweethearts each May day.
