Friday 07. 06. 19 Another Franglais class with Sandrine, Yvonne and Pierre.

Monday 03. 06. 19 Started on a new project today painting contemporary Whitton, comparing it with the days of my childhood. The photo shows the house as it was then and the painting, which is still a work in progress, is as it is now. Quelle différence!

Sunday 02. 06 19 Yesterday spent the day at a printmaking workshop in Belarga. We worked on doing dry point engravings on tetrapak packaging. Very stimulating and convivial. It was an all-day workshop with lunch. The only downside I could see was that one is restricted by the size of the the tetrapak altho there maybe larger boxes around. Did my Franglais piece – not a great meeting this week for some reason.

Sunday 26. 05. 19 Rode over to Octon this afternoon to the Artpage expo. An excellent show of artist’s books with very high standards. Visited Joan in her studio and also ran into some old friends, Elisabeth from St Mathieu and Jutta from Octon. A stimulating afternoon – I now have more thoughts and projects!!!! Did Franglais 2 commemorating Gordon’s gift of Latvian cider last friday.

Friday 24. 05 19 This is a drawing of a train journey that I did to school every day in the 50s.

Wednesday 22. 05. 19 Just got back this morning from a busy 5 days in London. Met Carol on Saturday and spent the whole day at the Crypt catching up. Sunday was Van Gogh at Tate Britain and Franz West and Dorothy Tanning at Tate Modern. Monday I took the train to Whitton and took a lot of photos of places from my childhood. Met Ed Harris for lunch at the Nelson and reminisced about post-war Whitton. Tuesday saw an excellent Kubrick exhibition at the Design Museum and then visited my old school in Chiswick before heading back to Luton for the night. Took the 6.30am flight back home this morning.

Sunday 12. 05. 19 I have started a series of collages based on my Friday Franglais class. This is the first.

Monday 06. 05. 19 Went to the Carriéres du Lumières again today and this time we managed to get in OK. What a fabulous expo/show – Vincent would have been proud. Afterwards we had a tasty lunch at our usual restaurant. A grand day out!

Tuesday 30. 04. 19 I went into Montpellier today and visited L’Arbre Blanc, a modern apartment building, and the Cathedrale St Pierre, a 13th century cathedral. An interesting contrast in styles.

Monday 29. 04. 19 I bought this Lily of the Valley this morning. It is sold in France to celebrate the Fête de Travail on Wednesday May 1st.
