More Canal experiments

Friday 24. 07. 15 I have been thinking about combining my drawing and painting and somehow showing both. Using mylar, I drew in the canal on one side and then painted on the other. I also tried using parchment but drawing and painting on the same side and allowing the drawing to show through. I think there will be more experiments to come! Of course I could always use watercolours.

Tuesday 21. 07. 15 Just back from a weekend at Marie-Pierre and Olivier’s. Visited vineyards, tasted wine,  went boating on the Bassin d’Arcachon, visited Blaye, an old fort overlooking the estuary, made new friends, lots of good food and wine and lots of good conversations in French. Un trés, trés bon weekend!

Friday 10. 07. 15 Yesterday worked on another monoprint of the second image of the canal and then today tried one using a watercolour crayon just to see what the effect was. I think I might try and colour this last one.

Monday 06. 07. 15 I noticed this new sculpture at the start of a new ring road around Villeveyrac en route back from my morning swim at Meze. Not sure whether it is where you wait for a lift or perhaps it is marking the route of the pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela. It is very new though and looks as if it is awaiting an electrical hook-up. This afternoon I did my third drawing of the canal.

Friday 03. 07. 15 It has been a busy day in the studio testing the new series. I printed a monoprint of the first canal image and then I tested various ways of applying colour. Coloured pencil, watercolour crayons and oil stick with linseed oil. I also did the base drawing for the second image.
