Beach Huts

Monday 30. 04. 12 This is a scene that has not changed since my childhood. Oddly altho there are beach huts, there is a notice declaring the beach is closed due to erosion and dangerous objects near the surface!!!

Wet UK

Friday 27. 04. 12 Just back from a quick trip to the UK. Left on Sunday after visiting an expo at the Musée Fabre in Montpellier with George and Laurene. An interesting show on Alexandre Hollan a Hungarian artist living in the Hérault. Flew to UK Sunday afternoon, picked up a car and then went to some old childhood holiday haunts en route to Chris and Viv in Hemingstone, Tuesday went to Cambridge to see Sebastian who I hadn’t seen for 50 years! On then to Lawrence and Diane in Stevenage for dinner and on Wednesday to Maureen in Sandhurst and Rob and Heather who were visiting Andrew in Ottershaw en route back from Oslo to Halifax. Thursday back here. Weather was wet and cool but it was good to see everybody.

Nearly finished

Thursday 19. 04. 12 Have been working on these two most of this week and I think they are close to being finished.

France Culture

Sunday 01. 04. 12 It has been an interesting weekend. Alan and Lea finished their artist in residence in St Mathieu and are staying with me until Tuesday when they take the train to London before flying home to Canada. Last night we drove over to Pezenas after an early dinner and went to L’Homme Cirque a one-man history of the circus by David Dimitri, set in a tent in a parking lot! Dimitri did it all without saying a word – he jumped, he played the accordion and the trumpet, he even got fired from a cannon! The show culminated by him walking out into the night on a high wire above the parking lot.  What a wonderful tour de force.

This morning we had a rendez-vous outside the mairie for a guided tour of the quartier where I live by the  local residents association. A fascinating tour explaining the history of the neighbourhood complete with visits to old tanning factories, walking along the canal and of course it ended up with aperos and snacks at the end. I am definitely going to join the association!
